Testimonials
From Jeffrey Parsons, Cardiff, August 2021
I am a 59 year old male and was diagnosed with advanced osteoarthritis in the right hip. I made the decision to go to Spire Cardiff Hospital for a replacement. Mr Maheson was highly recommended by a friend and family member so I consulted him with a view to carry out the operation. My experience from the very first consultation until the completion of my treatment was excellent, every aspect of my care and recovery has been first class. All the staff could not have been more professional and courteous. My care post op was way beyond what I imagined (my first experience of being a patient in hospital) this includes medical, catering, cleaning etc... I can not recommend Spire Cardiff Hospital enough. My life and retirement are now back on track thanks to them...
From Nicholas Beswick, Ebbw Vale Gwent, June 2021
A day never passes when I’m not grateful for your hip surgery literally giving me a new lease of life. I’ve had more time for walking since I retired last year and am able to undertake with ease walks that would have been impossible without my “metal legs” as my grandson calls them. I’ve made a point of walking every day since the start of lockdowns and recently passed a milestone of a minimum of 10,000 steps every day for a year – often a lot more. So this is a big thank you to you and your team!
From Mr P.O., Cardiff, February 2020
The exceptional skill of Mr Maheson transformed my life and I am playing golf & doubles tennis & badminton...
From Sharon Spackman, Cardiff, January 2020
It’s now just over 2 years since Mr Maheson replaced my right hip in December 17 using the direct anterior approach. I have walked up over 10 mountains each year – the first within 6 weeks of the operation - been skiing and spent 5 weeks in Thailand and New Zealand walking and kayaking, as well as just being able to do everything I used to do before the arthritis set in. The difference it has made to me is phenomenal. Thank you for giving me back my life!
From Hilary Brookes, Cardiff, April 2019

From Sandra Wood, Cardiff, October 2018
I undertook a total hip replacement by Mr Maheson on May 9th 2018. In all meetings prior to the operation and since he has shown kindness, understanding and has taken time to explain all processes. I have to have in the future the other hip replaced and without doubt will have Mr Maheson to operate. I have absolute trust and confidence in him.

From Nicholas Beswick, Ebbw Vale, March 2018
I returned to Mr Maheson for my second hip replacement after the success of the first and was pleased that he recommended his minimally invasive procedure this time. I had no hesitation in accepting this when he explained the benefits. This time, my recovery was much faster and I was spared the inconvenience that followed the conventional replacement. I cannot recommend Mr Maheson too highly.
From Wendy Kewley, London, February 2018

The recovery after this operation was less painful, facilitating much quicker mobility and independence. By the 6 week follow up appointment, I was walking usual distances, driving and had returned to a normal life. Friends have been impressed with my recover and I certainly recommend the anterior hip replacement.
From Ingrid Wilkey, Llantwit Major
My AMIS hip replacement was carried out at the Spire Hospital Cardiff in August 2011. I hadn't heard of this type of surgery before Mr Maheson explained it to me.
From Jeannie Low, Haverfordwest
After going through the normal channels of consultations regarding my inevitable hip replacement, I was very concerned at being told that the ultimate results were uncertain. I couldn't get a prediction of the time scale as to when, or even if, I would be able to return to work as an indoor cycling instructor. Would I walk with a limp, which I obviously wanted to avoid, or be able to continue long distance walking which is my main hobby?
From Maurice Bainbridge, Cardiff
Following my operation on Friday 29th June 2012, I was discharged from Spire Hospital on Sunday 1st July 2012. It was fantastic to be out of the pain I had been suffering for a long time.
From Raymond Lovett, Cardiff
The minimally invasive hip replacement I had in December 2011, performed by Mr Maheson was a remarkable experience. I was so surprised to be able to walk immediately without discomfort only pain in the incision which was to be expected. This did not last and was controlled well with strong analgesia for the 48 hours I was in Spire Hospital Cardiff.
